Job Duties
The Fourth Year AuD student is a full-time student, enrolled in their home university, who works under supervision, mentorship, and provisional state licensure, as an Audiology extern for a period of approximately one year. The primary purpose of this year is to complete all requirements of the home University in order to be eligible for graduation. Specifically, the purpose of the 4th year is to hone clinical Audiology skills across the scope-of-practice available in the Audiology Clinic at UCLA, grow in knowledge of the diagnostic and treatment process for patients of all ages, participate in multi-disciplinary learning, and to be exposed to a variety of styles and experiences among the UCLA Senior Audiology staff. The 4th year Extern is a student, and as such, does not provide services without oversight.

Job Qualifications
Must be a 4th year Audiology student Working knowledge of University business policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow through on all assignments with minimal direction. Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain professional effective working relationships with faculty, staff and other University departmental personnel. Ability to handle confidential information with professional decorum. Excellent verbal and written skills to communicate simple and/or complex policies/ procedures and guidelines, etc. to faculty, staff and other University departments. Ability to work efficiently and effectively within diverse responsibilities and changing priorities to meet deadlines. Skill in setting priorities to complete work in a timely manner when faced with a heavy workload and frequent interruptions. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment for patients and coworkers. Operate equipment safely and effectively. Complete Audiology Clinic documentation requirements, supervised by Audiology Manager, in an accurate and timely fashion. Insure that Clinic supplies and materials are well cared for and stored appropriately. Knowledge of medical terminology.
