Job Description

Job Duties
Provide technical support in research laboratory. Primary duty will be to conduct research with animal models, biological and immunological studies. Duties include, but are not limited to performing tumor inoculations and subsequent tumor measurements, irradiation of animals, treatment of animals with experimental drugs via intravenous or intraperitoneal injections, or oral gavage, perform simple surgical procedures, sacrifice animals, harvest and processing of blood, tumors and lymphoid organs, bioluminanent imaging of animals and cell lines, basic flow cytometry and cell sorting skills, DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, western blot, electrophoresis, and other molecular biology skills, plasmid amplification and viral transduction of cell lines, ELISA, filing and maintaining lab records and other related documents, prepare media, practice sterile techniques, establishing and maintaining long term cell cultures, operating analytical instruments and performing assays.

Job Qualifications
Exceptional skills in cell culture and sterile techniques. Prior experience working with keratinocytes and melanoma cell lines. Experience with managing mouse colonies, performing IV, IP and SC injections, blood collection and necropsies. Prior experience with tumor immunotherapy studies in mice, including adoptive cell transfer with TCR transgenic lymphocytes, carcinogen-induced skin cancers and immune-modulating antibody therapies. Ability to use computer software for word processing, data tabulation and graphing. Knowledge and ability to order supplies, maintain laboratory equipment and write SOPs. Ability and knowledge to operate basic laboratory equipment, i.e. centrifuge, tissue culture hood and related equipment, autoclaving, weighing, pipetting microliter volumes etc. Ability and working knowledge of Molecular Biology techniques including DNA, RNA, protein purification and quantification; PCR, qPCR, Western Blot, IHC. Excellent communication skills to interact with other researchers, vendors, suppliers, and maintenance engineers. Experience with Elisa, MTS, Bioluminescence and BCA assays. Ability to stain and fix cells. Prior experience in Flow Cytometry techniques. Embryonic stem cell and iPS cell culture. Work with the BLT mouse model and perform survival surgery. Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Ability to oversee and assign tasks to lab helpers. Skill in keeping accurate, complete and clear records of all experiments. Working knowledge of organization of data to present to collaborators. Advanced skill in working with research animals. Knowledge of ARC policies and procedure. Preferred: Working knowledge and experience in general immunology, cell biology and molecular biology techniques. Prior experience with in vivo imaging techniques in mouse models.
