Job Duties
Various duties including but not limited to: Responsible for on-boarding and training of new medical professionals regarding medical documentation, billing, coding, and revenue cycle; Ongoing training and educational in-services to medical professionals and ancillary staff regarding medical documentation guidelines, billing guidelines, coding guidelines, and compliance updates. Ongoing education and training to co-workers in medical documentation, billing, coding, and compliance guidelines/updates. Develop and implement curriculum and training materials; Lead, reinforce, and validate standard workflows and best practices; Engage in a collaborative problem solving approach with Education and Auditing unit; Identify any potential education and training opportunities to Assistant Director and other duties as assigned. A. Education, Training and On-boarding On-boarding of new medical professionals including education and training in medical documentation, billing, coding, and revenue cycle Training and in-services to medical professionals and ancillary staff regarding teaching physician guidelines for medical documentation, billing guidelines, correct ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT guidelines for coding. Participating in all scheduled training sessions. B. Ongoing education, training and in-services for medical professionals and ancillary staff on a quarterly basis to include medical documentation, billing, coding, and compliance updates. Participating in all scheduled training sessions. C. Educates and trains co-workers in medical documnation, coding, billing, and compliance guidelines. D. Develops and implements curriculum for on boarding and training new medical professionals in correct medical documentation guidelines as well as billing and coding guidelines. E. Develops and implements curriculum for medical professionals on a quarterly basis to include medical documentation, billing, coding, and compliance updates. F. Assists in identifying educational needs based on feedback from revenue cycle teams. G. Corresponds with physicians regarding medical documentation, billing, and coding guidelines by attending meetings, via phone, email, fax, etc. H. Maintains monthly training schedules and ensures quarterly training goals are met. I. Provides monthly narrative reports on training progress. J. Reviews new policy and procedures, standards and guidelines pertaining to medical documentation, billing, coding, and compliance to ensure an up-to-date knowledge and experience level. K . Reads publications and attends seminars to remain current on correct coding and billing procedures. O. Performs other duties as assigned by Assistant Director .

Job Qualifications
Certified as a professional coder from an accredited national association (required); Experience training/educating medical professionals in medical documentation, billing, coding, revenue cycle and compliance guidelines; Experience developing curriculum and training materials; Detailed knowledge of Medical Terminology and its application; Detailed knowledge and understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems; Proficiency across a wide range of services, including evaluation management, medicine, surgical services, radiology, and pathology. Knowledge of CMS and local carrier regulations and requirements for documenting/billing physician services at a teaching hospital; Working knowledge of anatomy and physiology; Knowledge of revenue cycle; Extensive knowledge of Medical Record content; Experience as Medical Record Abstractor; Ability to accurately assign ICD-10 and CPT codes; Knowledge of HIPAA requirements; Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; Ability to meet established continuing education requirements by attending required training workshops, reading materials; Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians and staff; Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision; Skill in prioritizing and performing a variety of duties; Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and training skills; Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word; Familiarity with web based training and tracking systems preferred; Agreeable attitude regarding assignment variety; Willingness to undertake limited travel as neeeded; Must have valid driver's license, auto insurance and access to an automobile; Ability to work flexible hours; Ability to follow University Policy and Procedures
