Job Description

Job Duties
The mission of the UCLA Center for Behavioral & Addiction Medicine is to advance the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses, especially in communities with health disparities. Our research efforts include clinical trials of anti-addiction medications, HIV prevention interventions and research on the intersection of substance use and HIV. The Community Health Program Rep will be responsible for supporting inpatient visits at the Santa Monica Hospital, on an as needed basis. Efforts will include patient outreach, education, study database entry, referrals, and other general administrative support.

Job Qualifications
Required: The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in data collection, interviewing, providing referrals and supporting outreach activities. Candidates must be comfortable questioning study participants about sensitive behavioral issues such as drug use, criminal behavior and sexual behaviors; able to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing with subjects, staff, supervisor, faculty and community partners. Willing to commute for meetings, work evenings and weekends. Must possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills necessary to coordinate responsibilities in the hospital. Candidates must be skilled in speaking and writing to persons of diverse social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds. Proficiency in MS Work, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and use of the internet are required. Preferred: Bilingual English/Spanish. HS Diploma or GED and 1 year of experience or 2 years of college, including courses in the natural, health/medical, physical or social sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
