Accounts Payable Accounting Clerk (Part-Time)

The Accounts Payable Department is responsible for review, payment processing, and distribution of all vendor and policyholder payments. This position reviews for support and approval of payments, assists with the data entry of invoices and prepares payments for mailing or automatic payment. Under the direction of the Assistant Treasurer, the Accounts Payable Clerk will serve as the back up to the Accounts Payable Jr. Accountant and assist with related administrative tasks for the department.

Job Responsibilities

* Process daily insurance policy disbursement checks and validate appropriate approvals and support
* Payment of invoices by ACH, Wire, Check, Corporate Credit Card, Bank Allowable ID and Cash Transfer and data of Invoices
* Special payment processing for municipal payments, legal fees, agent appointment fees and travel requests
* Preparation of special mailing via FedEx or Certified Mail
* Work with workflow routing system to verify approvals and capture documents in imaging system
* Train as a complete and full backup for Accounts Payable Junior Accountant
* Assist with Annual 1099 Filing
* Assist with Bi-Monthly Municipal payment processing
* Assist in gathering documents and support for auditors
* Research variances
* Communicate and work with other accounting and operations departments regarding payments, special receipt processing and other day to day accounts payable inquires.
* Provide day to day support and assistance with administrative tasks for the Accounts Payable and Treasury departments.

Desired Experience

* 2- 4 years in a Business Office environment with a focus on accounting tasks
* Associate degree preferably in Accounting or Finance would be helpful although not required
* General ledger operational knowledge preferred, but not required
* Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products with a focus on Excel
* Experience working with automated workflow routing systems
* Effectively communicate with customers inside and outside of the organization
* Effectively manage time as multiple administrative projects are assigned
* Self-starter with hands-on learning ability
