Clinical Manager - RN

Job Summary

The Clinical Manager is responsible for supervising clinical care teams that provide patient centered, cost effective clinical services to patients and families residing in their designated primary residence.  Leads and coordinates the provision of services in a manner that promotes a team approach, assures caring and respect for patients/families, meets Medicare/Medicaid conditions of participation and accreditation requirements for hospice and reflects the mission and philosophy of TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado.  The Clinical Manager also contributes to the ongoing professional development and competency of all clinical staff across the department and provides site based leadership influencing culture and atmosphere that is consistent with mission and philosophy of TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado.


  • Must possess a current license/degree in nursing or related health care field
  • A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a health care environment, hospice experience preferred
  • Demonstrated competency in management and leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Must successfully pass agency required background checks and drug screening
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, provide proof of insurance (a copy of your “Declarations Page” indicating you have $100k/$300k Bodily Injury/$100k Property Damage coverage) and have reliable transportation
  • Requires travel to multiple work locations
  • Must comply with agency health screening and immunization requirements
  • Must be able to demonstrate computer competency


  • Works with clinical leadership to develop departmental goals, budgets, policies, and procedures and staffing patterns consistent with strategic plans, high quality care and within budget parameters
  • Works with the Clinical Educator  in establishing and revising, as appropriate, clinical procedures, assuring clinical staff understanding and compliance
  • Works with the Director Clinical Services in establishing and revising, as appropriate, clinical policies and procedures, assuring clinical staff understanding and compliance
  • Works with the Director Clinical Services to implement strategies and program development subject to identified outcomes and within established timeframes
  • Facilitates Team Meetings as assigned
  • Demonstrates team building skills in problem solving and clarifies roles and accountabilities
  • Assures fiscal management of hospice services within established budgetary parameters
  • Actively participates in staff development
  • Stays current with regulatory changes, keeping programs compliant with Medicare and Medicaid conditions of participation for the hospice/home health program
  • Models understanding and implementation of the organization’s mission, vision and values and fosters cooperative, strong working relationships with the management team and organization wide.
  • Participates in on-call support rotation
  • Hires, trains and evaluates the performance of clinical staff; collaborates with fellow Clinical Managers to evaluate the professional competencies of staff across the department
  • Participates in active patient care as needed and may need to make direct patient care visits
  • Incorporates patient/family preferences and goals within the plan of care.
  • Supports and respects the patient’s and family’s unique diversity, including spiritual and cultural beliefs
  • Completes documentation in an accurate and complete manner as per agency standard and in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Provides patient and family education as appropriate; areas of education include, but are not limited to personal care, medications, procedures, safety, diet and nutrition, disease process, death and dying
  • Contributes to the team, utilizes team resources, supports team decisions, and maintains positive working relationships with all team members
  • Works collaboratively with volunteers and provides ongoing support and guidance
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills; gives and receives feedback in a timely open manner; engages collaboratively in conflict resolution processes as needed
  • Is flexible and responsive in meeting and exceeding the expectations of all customers, both internal and external
  • Participates in mandatory educational activities and required meetings
  • Is competent using agency information and technology systems


  • Active position with moderate physical demands, but must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with patient transfers
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases
  • May be exposed to a variety of patient care settings and conditions
  • Requires frequent driving that may include inclement weather, road conditions, darkness, etc. within our entire service area
  • Able to operate normal business machines such as, but not limited to, computers, blackberries, cell phones, and copiers

TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado Full time Employee College Education required Management experience required.
