Job Description

Trinity Highway Products is searching for a Sales and Customer Service Manager in our Chicago, IL office. Under the direction of the Vice President of Sales, the Sales and Customer Service Manager leads the sales department to support the sales efforts of the Regional Sales Managers and distributors. The Sales and Customer Service Manager is also instrumental in acting as a liaison between Regional Managers and customers, with Engineering, Manufacturing and other departments within the company. The Sales and Customer Service Manager directly supervises the Sales Support Representatives.

The Sales and Customer Service Manager continuously reviews orders (new and changed) to initiate action steps and follow-up to convert received orders into shippable orders. Resolves customer inquiries and complaints regarding orders until the product is installed.

The Sales and Customer Service Manager is responsible for maintaining and assuring the integrity of the Energy Absorption Systems, Inc. price book, creating/updating bid contracts for direct states, reviewing all incoming non-standard orders for pricing, terms conformance and engineering integrity, submitting pricing information to distributors or product bids. Additional functions include obtaining cost information and creating prices for custom parts/system.

What you'll do:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Supervise the Inside Sales Representative team. Provide on-going training programs and support, and evaluate personnel in accordance with individual performance and department standards.
* Emphasize inside selling with Inside Sales Representative team. Ensure good team dynamics between inside and outside sales.
* Assign shipment priority to orders based on customers' needs and/or requests and inform the Materials Manager to assist in coordination for the production schedule. Continually monitor status of all orders by reviewing all available internal reports and communications from Manufacturing. Make adjustments to shipping order priorities and communicate changes to Manufacturing for inclusion into the production schedules. Coordinate rescheduling of delayed shipments with the Master Scheduler and the customer, and document changes in the sales order files. Review and resolve problem orders and shipping priorities with Manufacturing. If not resolved, notify the Vice President of Sales of the status.
* Act as focal point, along with Materials Manager for ongoing efforts to create and maintain accurate forecasts. Use historical data along with current input from Regional Managers and Distributors to aid in scheduling and work flow.
* Continually monitor status of orders on "Credit Hold"; coordinate and assist in the flow of credit information, whenever needed to speed up the approval and release process.
* Answer technical inquiries in a timely manner from Regional Managers, distributors and/or customers, either directly or by referring the inquirer to appropriate Technical Services personnel.
* Develop policies and procedures to optimize departmental function and coordination with other departments and customers.
* Analyze problems, identify procedures and corrections to address order entry, order fulfillment and systems problems. Notify appropriate personnel in a timely manner when problem trends occur, in both department's procedures and functions, and manufacturing or product areas that impact the customers.
* Manage the creation of quotes and special price lists.
* Oversee all bid contracts for direct states only
* Supervise the Publication of new prices and/or price adjustments as calculated by Vice President of Sales and update the price book from prices maintained in the computer, both current and historical.
* Work with Engineering to evaluate all specifications prior to bidding.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Continually review the sales order processing procedure and suggest improvements and modifications to the procedures or any part or function thereof.
* Monitor distributor compliance to required inventory levels. Notify the Vice President of Sales of discrepancies or problems.
* Participate in Quality meetings and customer complaint review calls as needed to determine solutions to existing problems and preventative measures to prohibit recurrence.
* Periodically travel to the Company's manufacturing facilities and with Regional Managers to remain technically proficient with the product lines.
* Participate in the annual strategic planning process with other Sales and Marketing managers.

What you'll need:

* College degree (Engineering, Business or related field) and a minimum of 7 years in a Customer Service or Inside Sales function are required.
* 3-5 years supervisory experience is desired.
* Experience with technical products is required with strong mechanical or technical skills. Must be familiar with part nomenclature, and have the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
* Strong verbal and written communications skills are required, as are organizational and planning skills.
* Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) and Adobe PDF Acrobat. Ability to read, interpret and work from technical drawings and other detailed written information.
* Outstanding oral and written communications skills are necessary for customer interactions and employee training
* Ability to work extended hours may if required to meet workload demands.
* Predictable and reliable attendance.
