CRISIS CLINICIAN

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for highly skilled Crisis Clinicians to provide crisis intervention services at the Pittsburgh Mercy Walk in Crisis Unit and Central Recovery Center located on the south side of Pittsburgh. The Walk in Crisis Unit provides on-site crisis assessment, health and safety triage, referral and resources to all persons' including but not limited to persons with severe and persistent mental illness, persons with substance use disorders and those persons actively navigating the justice system in Allegheny County. The Walk in Crisis Unit is accessible to the public 24 hours a day seven days a week including holidays and weekends.

The Central Recovery Center (CRC) provides temporary diversion support for persons that need immediate removal of a stressful environment. While persons are at the CRC, they will have an opportunity for further evaluation by a psychiatrist and skilled professionals to initiate or resume medication, and to engage in varied treatment options to help in their path towards recovery from mental illness or from substance use.

As a Crisis Clinician you would become a part of an amazing team that includes other crisis clinicians, psychiatric nurses, psychiatrist, nurse practitioner and residential counselors, which provide exceptional services to our most vulnerable population in the City of Pittsburgh.

The Crisis Clinician would be responsible for providing comprehensive mental health assessments, exercising skilled clinical judgement and use of evidenced base practices to ensure needs are identified and are addressed by the entire crisis treatment team. The Crisis Clinician provides education and connections to community resources such as homeless shelters, inpatient and outpatient treatment providers, inpatient drug and alcohol rehabilitative services, case management services and any variety of services that can meet the unique needs of the persons we serve!

Crisis Clinicians are expected to work with persons in the development of a crisis plan, utilize de-escalation techniques as needed, be an empathetic presence for persons experiencing a mental health crisis, facing relapse from substances, fleeing domestic violence or those acclimating to the community after their release from jail. The Crisis Clinician must also demonstrate strong communication and time management skills, due to the sometimes fast paced nature of this job.

RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of direct experience working with the mental health population, or a Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years of direct experience working with the mental health population
* Valid Driver License
* Act 33/34/73 Clearances
* Full time position with an excellent healthcare and retirement package as well as a generous paid time off allocation. This position is stationary, located on the South side of Pittsburgh, PA-- no travel required!

Schedule:

MONDAY: 8:00AM-4:00PM

TUESDAY: 8:00AM-4:00PM THEN 4:00PM-12:00AM (double shift)

WEDNESDAY: 8:00AM-4:00PM

FRIDAY: 8:00AM-4:00PM
