Job Description

Overview

The #1 Morning News program in Los Angeles is seeking a main anchor/host. This is not for the traditional news reader. The desired candidate should be dynamic, innovative, and a team player. The KTLA 5 Morning News is the signature broadcast for the station. The ideal candidate will continue that legacy and be a part of the "heart and soul" of the organization.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be a presenter of information on news and other station programs covering news stories. This person must be a strong news anchor and an expert at breaking news, all while presenting stories with feeling and emotion during the light and hard moments of the broadcast.

This candidate will be part of the "face" the station presents to its audience and as such, will represent KTLA-TV to the public. The candidate will also generate news and segment ideas as well as write and/or proofread stories on assigned broadcasts. This anchor/host must read newspapers and magazines to stay informed on current events. And the candidate must work well with others as this position will work with producers, reporters and associate producers on assigned news broadcast.

Qualifications

College degree or equivalent. KTLA prefers an individual who has reported for a minimum of three years in a major market and who has either anchored a regularly scheduled news broadcast or hosted a show on a commercial or public television station.

KTLA will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring.
