Job Description

Systems Administrator

Summary: Responsible for all aspects of Town Pump’s server and desktop environments. This includes implementing updates, identifying and solving problems, security and monitoring of Town Pump’s server and desktop environments and developing best practice procedures. The Systems Administrator participates on multifunctional project teams for delivery of business solutions that will include technical implementation, security controls, and solution delivery based on defined performance criteria, cost measures, and project milestones.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Develops procedures and methods for operational tasks required to maintain Town Pump’s systems environment.
  • Responsible for the integrity and efficiency of Town Pump’s server and desktop environments.
  • Analyzes, schedules, configures, and applies patches, upgrades, and new services as required.
  • Responsible for establishing and following procedures and policies to manage and maintain Town Pump’s server and desktop environments.

 

Other (Knowledge Skills or Abilities):

  • Proven ability to manage integrated Microsoft services in a secure and highly available environment
  • Experience in a Windows environment including administrating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring various systems such a File Servers, Print Servers, SQL servers, Auditing and Monitoring Servers, Application Servers, VMware vSphere environment and DFS Shares
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Act as point of escalation for all server and desktop issues
  • Where appropriate, recommend, schedule, and apply fixes, security patches, and any other measures required in the event of business disruption.
  • In-depth knowledge of all Microsoft operating systems, with a focus on Windows 7/10, and Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
  • Ability to author effective “how-to” support requirements and documentation, including run book automation
  • Demonstrated root cause analysis (RCA) skills and able to provide or recommend effective timely resolution
  • Customer Focus: Focus on respect, urgency and empathy while maintaining a commitment to helping and supporting our End Users connectivity issues.
  • Planning/Priority Setting: Has the ability to recognize changing needs and pre-prioritize activities accordingly; is able to develop plans and timetables to complete projects and meet defined objectives and milestones
  • Team Building/Relationship Building: Has the ability to establish credibility, trust and rapport with peers and external vendors; works well as a member of a team; has the ability to lead cross-functional teams

 

Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Certificates and Licenses: 

Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
