Position Summary

The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department, Transit Division (Breckenridge Free Ride) is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented individual for the position of Transit Assistant Manager.  The individual in this position will be responsible for assisting in the management of the administrative and operational functions of the Transit Division including; supervision of Transit staff members, management of the Free Ride Transit information technology infrastructure, and regular administrative functions.



  • High school diploma with additional technical training in transit operations or management.The extent of formal technical training should be sufficient to demonstrate expanding knowledge and expertise in the functions described in this job description.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a Transit operations environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory Transit operations capacity (i.e., routes, schedules, staffing and compliance).
  • Must have a knowledge of the operation and use of transit buses and vehicles.
  • Must be skilled in the use of computers & related software, detection devices, mobile radios, telephones, etc.


  • Ability to obtain a valid Current Class "B" Colorado Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be able to pass background check and Motor Vehicle Record Check
  • Must have the ability to meet the Colorado Department of Transportation's (CDOT) physical requirements to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including the ability to pass CDOT drug and alcohol test requirements because the position is considered "safety sensitive" as defined by Department of Transportation . 


  • Bachelors degree in related field is desirable.


Additional Information

This position is considered safety sensitive by the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Transit Administration DOT FMC and FTA regulations.

Work schedule may include days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and extended shifts as needed due to urgent priorities or as scheduled. Must have the ability to be flexible with the work schedule in order to best meet the needs of staff and the organization. Must be able to work 40 hours per week or as needed at the discretion of management.
