Job Description

The Public Works Department is looking for a: Assistant Streets Manager Regular/Full Time $2,084.62 - $3,130.77 Biweekly

Position Summary

The Town of Breckenridge Public Works Department, Streets and Parks Division is seeking a uniquely qualified leader for the position of Streets Assistant Manager.  The individual in this position is responsible for the operations of the Streets activities in the Streets & Parks Division including pavement maintenance, street & sidewalk construction, alleys, bridges, rights-of-way, snow & ice removal, drainage facilities including ditches, supervision of Streets staff members, and specific infrastructure relating to the Town of Breckenridge to ensure the safe traveling of the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         High school diploma with additional technical training in pavement maintenance, equipment maintenance, purchasing, construction inspection, streetlight maintenance or related areas. The extent of formal technical training should be sufficient to demonstrate expanding knowledge and expertise in the functions described in this job description.

·         Minimum of five years of experience directly supervising and overseeing a public works department/division or similar type of environment.

·         Minimum of three years of experience in leading work crews, supervising teams, and/or overseeing projects.

Licenses, Certificates or Equipment Required

·         Ability to obtain a Class "A" or Class "B" Colorado Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement within 60 days of hire.

·         Must be able to pass background check and Motor Vehicle Record Check

·         Employee must have the ability to meet the Colorado Department of Transportation's (CDOT) physical requirements to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including the ability to pass CDOT drug and alcohol test requirements because the position is considered "safety sensitive" as defined by Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier regular.  The position is considered safety sensitive because the incumbent operates Federal Motor Carrier vehicles on public rights-of-way.

Desired Qualifications/Licenses/Experience:

·         Associates or Bachelor's degree in related field. Additional technical training in pavement maintenance, equipment maintenance, purchasing, construction inspection, street sign standards.

·         Current Class "A" or Class "B" Colorado Commercial Driver's License with Tanker Endorsement.

·         A general, common sense working knowledge of street maintenance procedures and construction techniques, drainage maintenance, snow & ice removal, and the specific infrastructure pertaining to the Town of Breckenridge.

·         Possess supervisory skills and have the ability to communicate successfully with personnel, citizens, contractors, and business people.

Work Schedule
Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week or as needed at the discretion of management.  Employee must have the ability to be flexible with the work schedule in order to best meet the needs of staff and the organization.
