Position Summary

The Town of Breckenridge Recreation Department is seeking a dedicated and customer service oriented individual for the position of Golf Mechanic. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation, presentation and mechanical needs to support the effective operation of the Golf Course Maintenance Division.  This position coordinates, directs and performs preventative maintenance and mechanical repairs on machinery and equipment used by the golf course maintenance staff for both the Breckenridge Golf Club and the Gold Run Nordic Center. The incumbent monitors the use of equipment, tools and facilities throughout the building and surrounding amenities and upholds the safety of the equipment and amenities in general, including leading regular staff in-service trainings on proper equipment operation and safety.  

The individual in this position schedules and performs maintenance and repair of golf course maintenance equipment (including repairs to diesel and gasoline engines, sharpen reels, bed knives, and blades and mowers); performs maintenance and repair of Nordic grooming equipment; and troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. A key responsibility is instructing and training golf course personnel in the safe and efficient operation and care of golf course and Nordic equipment.  Along with various other operational needs, incumbents in this position are required to perform work in a manner consistent with and exemplary of the Town's Leadership Values & Philosophies and the Town's Equal Opportunity Employment Policy.

Qualifications

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience as a Mechanic required.
  • To qualify for this position the candidate or employee must pass a criminal background check as described in the Recreation Department Criminal History Background Check & Confidentiality Policy.


LICENSES, CERTIFICATES OR EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

  • Colorado driver's license required within 30 days of hire.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Experience as a Golf Course Mechanic preferred.
  • Certification (such as ASE) preferred.
  • Education/Degree in automotive mechanics or related field preferred.

SENSITIVITY STATUS
Because the Town's Recreation Department positions may involve direct contact with children, the Town requires that the incumbent in this position must have a clear criminal history that bears on his or her fitness to have responsibility for the safety and well-being of children.

WORK SCHEDULE
The work schedule for this position is typically Monday through Friday, and hours vary, dependent upon operational and seasonal needs.  During peak golf season, shifts start as early as 5:30am. The individual in this position must be flexible in terms of availability and may be required to work shifts as needed to meet business needs, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
