Job Description

The Town of Blue River is hiring a Part-time Deputy Clerk.  

Applicant must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work with the public and must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office.  Compensation is dependent on experience.  

Description of Work:

The Deputy Town Clerk performs a broad range of tasks in support of the Town Clerk and other staff for the Town of Blue River. The Deputy Town Clerk performs administrative and technical duties for elections, records and municipal court as administrative assistant for Town Departments.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and data entry functions, requiring strong organizational and technical skills.

• Responsible for providing excellent customer service to peers, supervisors, and members of the community.

• The position involves extensive public contact, necessitating excellent communication, interpersonal skills, customer service, independent judgment and professionalism.

• Assist the Town Administrator/Clerk in performing the functions of the Town Clerk’s Office; schedule facilities; act in absence of the Town Clerk as required.

• Issue boat permits and resident stickers.

• Assist with maintaining records management including filing and scanning of Town documents. Assist in organizing and maintaining onsite Town records; the safekeeping of official town documents.

• Assist in the conduct of all regular and special municipal elections.

• Assist in maintaining homeowner information and updating of contact information.

• Perform a variety of tasks while seated at a desk including typing, data entry, emailing, and filing.

• Assist other departments with general administration as needed.

• Receive and process permit, licenses, and court payments.
