Job Description

Town of Billerica Treasurer-Collector's Office has opening for the following positions:

Full Time Principal Payroll Clerk 

Duties: Under the direction of the Treasurer / Collector or designee this position will be responsible for all functions of municipal payroll. Primarily, this position is responsible for maintaining payroll records, input and verification of weekly municipal payrolls, tax reporting, and pension reporting for the Town and School Payroll. You will also have to process checks through the MUNIS payroll module. Additional duties include but are not limited to: wiring and transferring funds, yearly review of employee action forms, monthly and quarterly balancing and reporting for year-end W-2’s, update and monitor accruals for employees, salary changes, and  knowledge and understanding of all Union Contracts. This position will perform other duties as assigned AA/EOE.

Qualifications: Associates Degree in Accounting, Business or other relevant disciplines. Payroll processing experience, proficiency in MS Office (Word & Excel); experience with MUNIS applications is strongly preferred; three to five years’ experience in a professional office setting, Municipal experience preferred; substitutions for the qualifications will be at the discretion of the Town Manager.

Salary: $20.08 per hour

Hours: 8:30am to 4:00pm; Monday thru Friday

 

Full Time Senior Clerk 

Duties: Under the direction of the Treasurer/Collector and Assistant Collector, the applicant will be responsible for all duties primarily relating to the Collector’s Office. Such duties require attention to detail, the ability to work independently and handle confidential information. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to answering phones, typing correspondence, process tax and online payment files, assist the general public in taking real estate tax payments, personal property tax, motor vehicle tax, water and any other payments normally made in the Collectors’ Office with cash, check or credit card.  This position will perform other duties as assigned AA/EOE.

Qualifications: Associate Degree in a relevant field preferred, proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel); Experience with Munis applications is preferred; three to five years’ experience in a professional office setting; Municipal experience preferred; banking or cash handling experience is desirable; substitutions for the qualifications will be at the discretion of the Town Manager.

Salary: $19.20 per hour; based upon a 37.5 hour week

Hours: 8:30am to 4:00pm; Monday thru Friday
