Position Description

Engineer I

I. Position Summary:

The Engineer I duties will include assisting in the design and specification preparation of transmission, substation, and distribution facilities. Additionally this individual will assist in the preparation and performance of short range and long range engineering studies. Extensive fieldwork will be required in conjunction with normal office duties.

II. Reporting Relationship: Manger of Engineering or as assigned III. Supervisory Responsibilities:

May be assisted by engineering technicians, engineering assistants, or engineering aids

IV. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assists in the performance of electrical system studies and make recommendations based on results. Assists in conducting studies and surveys to improve the electrical system with emphasis on the application of new materials, equipment, and system operations
* Assists in preparation of short range and long range plans, including voltage drop studies, sectionalizing studies, maintenance requirements, and budget requirements
* Assists in evaluation of line outage conditions and makes recommendations for changes or improvements
* Assists in recording, reviewing and analyzing system records, and making recommendations for system improvements or solutions to system problems
* Assists in the design of electric facilities for new member line extensions, subdivisions, system improvements, system maintenance, and SCADA
* Performs assignments designed to develop professional works knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks
* Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
* Uses prescribed methods performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
* Maintains tools, equipment, and vehicles
* Observes all safety rules

* Local, County, State, and Federal Agencies: Confers with, advises, informs, and coordinates activities

Position Specifications

Engineer I

Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: Knowledge of electrical system design.

Required Education and Special Training: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum or equivalent.

Equipment Operated: Must be proficient in the use of computer terminals, personal computers, standard office equipment, and engineering devices/equipment as they relate to Farmers EC engineering and operations. A valid driver's license is required.

Abilities and Skills: Good oral and written communications skills. Must have extensive problem solving skills, and be able to organize work to meet deadlines. Must have the ability to work independently and perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Work requires attention to detail and the completion of reports, which require a high degree of accuracy and detail. Limited exercise of judgement is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Supervisor screens assignments for unusual or difficult problems and selects techniques and procedures to be applied on non-routine work. Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments.

Physical Effort: Must be able to perform the activities listed in the position description. Position activities may require some climbing, bending, lifting, and engaging in active fieldwork.

Working Conditions: Work is both inside and outside in adverse weather conditions. Some irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays required.

After an offer of employment has been made, Farmers EC requires a physical, which will include both alcohol and drug testing and a pre-employment physical.

Electrical Engineer

Farmers Electric Cooperative, a Rural Electric Cooperative, has an immediate opening for an entry

level Electrical Engineer.

This position will provide a wide variety of utility engineering experiences for the right candidate. Responsibilities will include SCADA, system design, planning, construction, maintenance, & operations of

a growing utility system. The successful applicant

must be self-directed, have trouble shooting skills

and the ability to communicate in a highly technical environment, and have the desire to be part of a

team-oriented work force.

A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with an EIT Certification in the State of Texas or qualifications to obtain EIT within 1 year of employment is required. A higher level of education or certification is a plus.
