Our Vision for this Role


As a Transportation Systems Analyst you are a subject matter expert and a liaison between Logistics Operations and IT.   You’ll perform advanced Transportation Management System (TMS) analysis and conduct simulated ‘what-if’ scenarios to ensure optimal performance and quality output.  Your analysis will also support network decisions and help identify opportunities which impact the business units.


You’ll also perform system maintenance, testing and enhancement of the TMS modules and related EDI activity.  You’ll be a key decision maker, responsible for creating custom reporting, making technical decisions directly impacting operational output (service and costs).  You’ll be an advisor to executive leadership on recommendations related to systems changes/enhancements and TMS upgrades and/or replacement.

You will be assigned a mix of core responsibilities as well as special projects which will optimize TMS performance, drive cost savings and build the necessary tools and capabilities to support our continued growth:


  • Facilitates technical alignment between Business and IT.
  • Documents inbound and outbound business requirements to enhance system configuration and daily processes.
  • Manages configuration and optimization process, to test software, improve interface quality, and success of future releases.
  • On-call representation for TMS related critical issues.
  • Performs program maintenance (non IT) on TMS and other key software tools. 
  • Performs TMS system issue resolution, research and resolve interface failures
  • Ascertain opportunities to improve TMS performance, coordinating improvements with TMS provider and IT.
  • Ensures accuracy of all analysis, reports, databases, and software interface.
  • Develops and continuously improves Carrier Report Cards, to include compliance, service, and utilization.
  • Supports maintenance and development of Network Databases for Logistics related systems and EDI applications.
  • Plans TMS service release testing and upgrades and performs regression testing when required.
  • Act as an operational planner on occasion to stay current and aligned with operations
  • Support TMS Sarbanes-Oxley compliance auditing and documentation
  • Performs TMS network studies to include new DC openings, changes in network, dedicated operations, etc.


The Skills that will Make You Successful


  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology/MIS, Finance, Engineering or Supply Chain/Logistics with 1+ years’ experience in an Analyst role.
  • Previous experience/knowledge of the Transportation industry and TMS/WMS systems is plus: JDA, Oracle or Manhattan. 
  • Highly analytical approach to problem solving, leveraging their exceptional Microsoft Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Highly technically savvy with strong business acumen; the ability to flex between individually driven technical work and highly collaborative team projects.
  • The ability to translate highly technical information to operation functions. 
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment; product moves quickly through our supply chain network, it is important to react quickly to incoming requests.
  • A self-director who can manage their own timelines and set priorities
  • Strong Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skills; no day is the same in off-price retail, the ability to assess situations quickly and provide alternate solutions is key to success.
  • Ability to influence others without authority.  An agile learner
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Flexible and adaptable; priorities change frequently based on business demands, the ability to change direction quickly is critical.
  • High aptitude for manipulating and making inferences from data.
  • Ability to develop new tools and processes to support TJX global supply chain goals and objectives.
