Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will perform general ledger month-end close including preparation of journal entries in accordance with company policy and GAAP; reconcile inter-company accounts and bank accounts; perform monthly reconciliations and analyses of general ledger asset and liability accounts; and work on special projects incorporating research/analysis as requested.

Key Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for performing account analysis and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts and transactions:

* Supporting the Finance Manager in achieving the objectives of the department
* Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts
* Performs accurate and timely monthly close activities, including accrual and other journal entries, payroll journal entries, temporary employee accruals, intercompany invoicing and reconciliations, bank reconciliations, inventory, E&O, and other account reconciliations and roll-forwards
* Completion of all relevant accruals and prepayments within the month.
* Prepares financial statements and other financial reports to analyze revenues, costs, expenses, transactions, and trends related to financial performance
* Analysis of revenue and standard margin on a daily basis, comparing to forecast, plan and prior; providing details to the Site Finance Lead, and a summary to Business Management
* Monthly Cost Center reporting to all department managers, comparing actual to budget, to prior year
* Provides reports to management to support financial reporting activities:
* Reporting in HFM on a weekly and monthly and annual basis
* Performs account analysis and reconciliation of the general ledger accounts and transactions (reconciliations are for all balance sheet accounts except accounts receivable and accounts payable related, as these are performed by the shared service.
* Analyzes the impact of new accounting pronouncements on the company's financial reporting, working with Finance Manager
* Performs financial audit preparation and interacts with audit teams including the SOX compliance controls
* Prepares year-end tax preparation packages, maintaining appropriate supporting documentation, for submittal to Corporate
* Maintains Fixed Asset register, Depreciation schedules, and CIP
* Ensure warranty revenue, and amortization schedules are accurate for intangibles and demo equipment
* Works closely across all of finance and with other business departments
* Provides coverage (backup) to support other accounting and finance duties when necessary, (for Finance Manager)
* Commercial Rebates management and working with Finance Manager & Commercial Teams as required to account for rebate programs accurately
* Oversees Intercompany balancing and reconciliation each close period, working with the shared service
* Calculates commission as required for the independent business product lines (BTI)
* Assist with annual budget process by owning portions of the process (IE working with departmental leads on pulling together cost center spending)
* Frequent interaction with other departments
* First line contact with Shared Services
* Consult with colleagues for problem resolution and financial analysis
* Active participation in Process Improvement projects (PPI)
* Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field with 1-3 years' experience in a related field / industry, preferably public accounting
* Detail-oriented and self-motivated
* Analytical skills and the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
* Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
* Excellent time-management skills and good practical reasoning skills
* Commitment to continuous improvement
* The ability to participate as a team member in the department and the company as a whole
* Interact positively with all levels of associates
* Must be able to use the mainframe and various PC software applications to maximize accuracy and productivity
* Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills
* Especially strong working with spreadsheets
* Experienced individual must have professional demeanor and deliver accurate work products which conform to policies and procedures
* Ability to multi-task and exercise discretion while handling sensitive information
* Capacity to act as a self-starter and as a team player with strong follow-up skills
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, etc.
* Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles (GAAP and IFRS)
* Experience with automated accounting systems (ERP)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Flexibility in scheduling due to business requirements (i.e., month-end close)
* Organizational skills and ability to work independently with changing priorities
