Job Description

The Watershed Project is seeking an Environmental Educator to support our successful watershed education programs. This opportunity is a 11 month BAYAC AmeriCorps fellowship. The BAYAC AmeriCorps fellow will advance our mission through teaching and inspiring the next generation of watershed stewards. Under the direction of the program staff at TWP, the fellow will provide support for our watershed education efforts, such as classroom and field-based programs, coastal cleanups, and restoration events.


  • Deliver in-class lessons for K-12 school programs
  • Plan, prepare for, and deliver field-based programs
  • Support curriculum development and prepare lesson and field trip materials
  • Support the evaluation of education programs
  • Coordinate with teachers and program partners to schedule programs
  • Assist with outreach (for example, writing articles for the monthly newsletter)
  • Support tasks such as website support, calendar and schedule updates, and program materials (curriculum, boots, etc.)
  • Assist with community volunteer restoration workdays
  • Present The Watershed Project's programs at workshops and fairs

The fellow will spend approximately 85% of their time on education programs (teaching and leading field-based programs) and 15% on outreach, volunteer workdays and community event support.



  • Teaching experience or a strong interest in teaching K-12 students
  • Graduate in environmental science, environmental studies, biology, education or a related field preferred
  • Outdoor education, naturalist, interpretation experience highly preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred
  • Ability to work both on a team and independently
  • Flexible, enthusiastic, self-directed, and dependable
