The Channel Manager - Bank, Insurance, and Investment Strategist will support the sales goals for the Financial Advisor Services (FAS) division by developing and continuously enhancing channel-specific sales and client strategies, leading channel business planning, and producing ongoing channel insights and analysis, channel research, competitive analysis, overviews and updates for the Bank advisor channel.

About FAS Bank, Insurance, and Investment Strategist:

Bank, Insurance, and Investment Strategist are three outstanding intermediary sales channels within FAS that are combined under one leadership team. Together, the channels represent hundreds of billions of dollars in AUM making it some of FAS's largest distribution channels. The channels operate with a lean structure focusing its sales efforts on sophisticated professional buyers at home offices and in the field.


In this role you will

The Channel Manager position for FAS's Bank, Insurance and Investment Strategists role is a strategy focused role, uniquely positioned within one of FAS's main sales organization. The position's primary responsibilities will include leading business planning and its execution, supporting the design and execution of the different channel level strategies (client segmentation, sales coverage, offer, operating model, etc.), and leading challenging initiatives that directly impact the channels and division. The ideal candidate should possess strong conceptual thinking, analytical and communication skills (through all mediums), as well as a growth attitude. Additionally, the candidate will be encouraged to drive outcomes by solving complex problems through rigorous analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities

* Leads and handles the Bank, Insurance, and Investment Strategists channel strategies for the Financial Advisor Services business. Sets strategic priorities for the sales team, develops the sales strategy, including advisor segmentation methodologies, client ranking lists, and service models; defines non-product strategy and marketing approaches for the channels; leads ongoing optimization of the strategy.
* Identifies new ideas and standard methodologies, orchestrates experiments to test new approaches in sales and marketing, continuously renew and optimize the channel approaches.
* Leads coordination and communication efforts to effectively execute the channel strategy across three channels each with its own outstanding segmentation; facilitate information flow, standard methodology sharing, resolve potential issues and conflicts.
* Partners with other Vanguard partners such as Client Insights and Corporate Strategy to conduct ongoing analysis of current approach and explore new ideas, strategies and approaches.
* Conducts insightful research and analysis of strategic and competitive issues confronting the Bank, Insurance, and Investment Strategist channels. Interprets and strategically analyzes industry and Vanguard data to identify challenges and opportunities for the FAS business.
* Be the center of excellence for senior leadership and Sales managers, communicate and present regularly to Vanguard, FAS and Sales leadership on channel trends, strategy and performance.
* Facilitates business planning at regional, territory and client level, provides framework, mentorship, analytical support and thought partnership; Develops and tracks the right metrics to measure channel performance
* Partners with Sales Administration to strengthen FAS Sales' capabilities to train, develop sales teams, improve sales effectiveness and build an extraordinary Sales team.
* Work with the analytics team to support the channels in strategic analysis and the data / reporting needs from the Sales team.
* Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


What it takes

* Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. MBA preferred.
* Minimum of five years general experience and three to five years industry/technology.
* Strong conceptual thinking skills, able to lead ambiguous problems with structured thinking.
* Exceptional leader, ability to motivate team and peers through informal and formal leadership.
* Proven ability to develop and implement unique solutions, strong analytical skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build strong working relationships and break down organizational barriers in matrix organization.
* Excellent research and analytical skills to generate insights from data and analysis.
* Strong project management skills, ability to mobilize resources, leading multiple priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including strong presentation skills to senior management.
* Strong work ethics, ability to work independently, with attention to details and sensitivity to deadlines.
