Job Description

To assist in the execution of the vision, strategic direction, and initiative roadmap for strategic, business technology projects. To help define the reference and implementation architectures for strategic, business technology projects. To persuade and influence Business and Information Technology (IT) leaders on the architectural direction for strategic, business technology projects.

The Financial Advisor Services (FAS) Systems team is looking for a Senior IT Crew Member with demonstrated Advanced Technical Prowess, Relationship Management and Business Acumen to fill the role of Solutions Architect. The selected candidate will provide the vision, strategic direction and the roadmap for transformational technology initiatives.

This position is multifaceted, having exposure to many different business areas. It requires the ability to analyze varying technologies and vendors to create world-class strategies for a wide range of business and IT goals by leading complex program level initiatives.

This position also includes partnering with cross divisional architects, the CTO as well as the FAS and Retail architecture teams.

This is an excellent opportunity to use advanced communication, superior conceptual thinking and relationship management skills to influence the strategic direction of the MFA Business lines through broad and deep technical skills. Specifically, this position will provide oversight to The FAS Mutual Fund Administration Portfolio with a particular lens into creating a modernization roadmap, and engaging with Appian, with a goal of transforming how the business interacts with intermediaries and clients.

Additional Requirements:

* Ability to research Emerging and Promising Technologies, and if applicable, builds POCs that demonstrate the potential relevance for the FAS business.
* Strong Relationship Management skills and conceptual thinking skills.
* Partnering with the FAS Systems teams and the business in driving out multiyear technology planning.
* Growing a deep working knowledge of the business, business strategies.
* Ability to create clarity and certainty when there is ambiguity; communicate to all stakeholders at varying levels within the Organization.
* Partner with, influence the FAS business, Enterprise Architecture and FAS Architecture on strategic directions, both business and systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides the architectural leadership in shaping strategic, business technology projects, with an emphasis on application architecture. Utilizes domain knowledge and application portfolio knowledge to play a key role in defining the future state of large, business technology programs.

2. Utilizes a broad and deep understanding of the competitive landscape and corporate and business unit strategies to provide context for architectural decision making.

3. Within area of responsibility, continuously pursues strong knowledge of business technology solutions and maintains understanding of applicable technologies, tools, and services:

* Establishes working relationships with appropriate business technology solution providers (e.g., Salesforce, Charles River, Reuters, etc.).
* Leverages knowledge capital available through subscription research services that target business technology solutions (e.g., Forrester on Digital Business, Cutter on investment management, etc.).
* Leverages the Internet and trade periodicals that focus on the contemporary, competitive, business technology issues within the financial industry.
* Attends financial industry conferences and engages in associated activities (e.g., conducting presentations, leading workshops, etc.).

Qualifications

* Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
* Minimum five years relevant work experience.
