Job Description

The University of Oklahoma Tom Love Innovation Hub (I-Hub) is a 20,000 sq. ft. facility opened in September 2016 to increase invention and entrepreneurship at the University of Oklahoma and across Oklahoma. The I-Hub has an opening for a Prototyping Manager who will lead the external fee-for-service and collaborative prototyping programs. This position will lead collaborative teams to coordinate and perform a myriad of fabrication and ideation duties as well as secure and manage new projects with potential customers. This position is key to a new I-Hub Agile Collaborative Prototyping initiative, bringing industry, faculty, researchers, and students together to push the state economy forward. The person selected will have experience in prototyping, fabrication, project management, and business development. Ideally, they will have experience working directly with student teams in such an environment. This is a grant-funded position.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:

* 24 months design/design tool and prototyping/fabrication experience



Skills:

* Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines


* Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff


* Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives


* Skilled at product design, fabrication, and prototyping


* Able to engage potential customers


* Strong time and budget management


* Must have strong ability to lead project teams



Certifications:

* Valid drivers license for frequent off-campus meetings



Advertised Physical Requirements:

* The employee will frequently be called upon to stand, crouch, or bend for long periods of time
* The employee will also be required to pull, push, or lift objects weighing up to fifty pounds

Department Preferences:

* Project & student management experience and knowledge of OU policies and procedures
* Preference for a Bachelor degree or above in Engineering, Sciences, or Technology

Supervision: 1-5 Staff; Undergraduate and Graduate Student Staff supporting Prototyping Services
