Job Description

As a departmental academic counselor in the Department of Human Relations within the College of Arts and Sciences, the primary responsibility is to audit student files for verification of degree requirements. Counselors maintain computerized degree audit information for each assigned student to certify that all requirements and policies have been fulfilled to award degrees. Other duties include responding to inquiries about academic issues related to state regents, university, college and department policies, and interacting with department advisors, faculty and staff. May represent the college at recruiting events or university meetings.

Required Education: Bachelor Degree OR an equivalent combination of education/job related experience AND:

* 0 - 24 months Academic Advising


* Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
* Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
* Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
* Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives
* Customer service

Advertised Physical Requirements:

* Standard office environment, with extensive computer use and interpersonal contact. Ability to engage in repetitive motions and communicate.

Departmental Preferences:

* Master's degree
* Previous experience in academic advising
