Job Description

This position is a full-time, 12-month appointment in Norman, Oklahoma. Interested candidates should submit applications as soon as possible. Responsibilities include: Managing the day-to-day outreach and education operations of the Oklahoma Water Survey (OWS); In conjunction with the Director, developing funded outreach and education programming for the OWS with local, state, federal, tribal, and industry partners through grant proposals and contractual agreements; Conducting OWS-related outreach and educational program; Work with University of Oklahoma faculty to connect Oklahoma water industry professionals to University students; Supervising or mentoring technicians, interns, graduate students, and/or undergraduate students; Monitoring progress compared to milestones and identifying problems; and serving on relevant University, local, and/or statewide committees and engaging in strategy sessions, workshops, and partners' meetings.

Education: Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Water Science, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geography, Geology, Environmental Law, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related fields OR equivalent combination of education and job related experience.

* 3 years experience in outreach programming in the water industry.

Skills:

Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines

Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff

Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines

Strong initiative to solve problems

Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives

Customer service

Must be able to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations

Must have strong ability to lead project teams

Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations

Composition and proofreading skills

Some technical writing experience

Proficient in copy writing, editing, proofreading and composition

Professional writing, public relations or copy-editing

Advertised Physical Abilities

Ability to communicate including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others, Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds (occasionally), Ability to see including unique visual requirements with or without corrective eye wear, Ability to stand for short or extended time periods.

Department Preferences: Masters Degree

Supervision:

Will supervise and mentor technicians, interns, graduate students, and/or undergraduate students.
