Assist with daily management of the OSU Beef Center cowherd and other operational activities; manage basic daily cattle herd requirements, including nutrition, calving, breeding and herd health; coordinate with supervisor on research projects at Beef Center; work with supervisor to make breeding decisions for the beef center animals; assist with pasture management, including rotational grazing, pasture clipping and fertilizing; assist with facility up keep as needed; perform standard farm practices such as bedding, hauling manure, mowing, fence repair/building; maintain livestock health and breeding records in coordination with the unit supervisor; haul animals to classes on main campus and to sale outlets as needed; supervise 3-5 student employees and coordinate their work schedules; maintain records for occupational health and safety training for student workers; assist with beef center classes and instructs students as needed during class; other duties as assigned.

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal.

Bachelor's degree in animal sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience; experience in caring for animal herds, including nutrition, breeding and disease control.
