Job Description

Our client, a professional services organization with offices coast to coast, is seeking a Senior Public Relations Specialist to work in the Marketing Department of the Cleveland Headquarters location.

The ideal candidate will work with the Public Relations and Communications team to implement public relations activities, working closely with the Public Relations Manager to increase the organization's visibility by securing strategic media exposure. Candidates must have the ability to communicate persuasively and concisely. Candidates will work in a fast-paced environment independently and as part of a highly collaborative team.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Prepare and distribute PR materials, including press releases, media pitches, deal announcements, etc.
  • Manage byline article requests and placements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key reporters at trade publications and at the local level.
  • Research and prepare targeted media lists and manage media database.
  • Organize editorial calendar system, including identifying appropriate opportunities and managing deadlines.
  • Provide public relations support to strategic practice group programs and events.
  • Assist with tracking press coverage, compiling news clips and monthly reports
    • Provide PR support to individual offices, where needed.
    • Work with PR/Communications team to create and implement effective PR and social media campaigns that support business development goals.
    • Identify story/media opportunities and develop appropriate pitch materials.
    • Ensure organization's media relations policy is followed, safeguarding firm/client relationships.
    • Work with Public Relations Manager and national public relations agency in identifying, coordinating and conducting media relations activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree is required, preferably in Communications, English or Journalism. 3-5 years of experience in the public relations field preferred, and experience in a professional service firm or a PR agency a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and editing skills
  • Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with a highly collaborative team
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to be detail-oriented
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Working knowledge of and established contacts with legal and business media
