The Director of Store Operations has full P&L responsibility over company-wide retail store operations. Drives strategies to increase growth and profitability, ensure sustainability and develop best-in-class teams of store professionals.

This position may be based in any one of our Midwest locations including Ohio (Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus), Indiana (Indianapolis), or Michigan (Canton area).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct and oversee store operations company-wide.
  • Hire, train, manage, coach and develop, evaluate, adjust salaries, and in Tandem with HR, terminate store managers.
  • Collaborate with Finance/Accounting on annual budget. Establish budgets for each store location.
  • Perform periodic store reviews to ensure full understanding of collective and individual store performance.
  • Strategize for and implement plans to assure a sustainable store model. Includes geographic analysis of current store locations and potential future store locations.
  • Inventory management. Planograms that make great business sense and are sustainable and repeatable at each store. Creativity is very important, as is an understanding of flow of merchandise; impulse buying; setting the store for greatest success.
  • Develop, maintain and foster solid customer relationships and be the face of Millcraft in this customer-facing role.
  • Utilize our ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics) for business analysis, strategic planning and adjustments towards high-performing retail stores that compete in the Midwest footprint.
  • In support of business growth and development, make sales calls with store personnel on current and potential customers. Execute on sales and marketing strategies to meet and exceed company growth and profitability objectives.
  • Define key target customers and track progression through metrics and measurables. Support key account management; collaborate on customer solutions; assist in the retention of great customers and grow that community of opportunity.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain management, Store Managers and vendors to maintain proper inventory selection and levels in order to retain current customers and attract new sustainable business.
  • Oversee inventory to drive weekly specials and feature sales. Strategize and implement marketing techniques. Collaborate on monthly flyers and other sales collateral with Marketing and others.
  • Collaborate on AR and Credit activities. Includes consistently reviewing the open account aging report and working in conjunction with the Corporate Credit team on credit-hold and other credit issues. Make credit and collection calls to customers to effect positive change.
  • Assure daily banking is a priority for Store Managers.
  • Collaborate with store personnel and delivery sources (mainly internal - occasionally external) to support the most efficient and effective movement of paper to our customers.
  • Comply with all company procedures and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset. You approach business as though the stores are your own. You are interested in growing them to be the best-of-the-best in order to delight and retain our valued customers and to provide a great work experience for the store team!
  • In your mind, excellent customer service is paramount.
  • You are technically proficient and comfortable using the Internet; Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and especially Excel); Microsoft Dynamics experience is highly beneficial; however, strong ERP use and expertise is beneficial.
  • You're very organized; you create and maintain a store environment that is pleasing to the customer; clean and secure for every person within it; the store format has a nice flow; the warehouse is orderly and safe. You take pride in the space our customers visit and our employees work in daily.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • 4-year degree in a field including business, marketing or communications is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of top level management experience in a retail/wholesale sales and service environment.
  • Paper (terminology and grades) and packaging experience is highly beneficial.

Qualifications

Applicants must be eligible to work in the specified location
