Job Description

Overview:

The Demand Planning intern will mainly support the Demand Planning team, in Operations. The intern will contribute the latest business insight from academia as well as an unbiased perspective in reviewing existing processes and proposing sustainable solutions for continuous improvement, while gaining hands-on experience in a global CPG organization. Our ideal candidate would be someone who understands the basics of Supply Chain Management and Excel-based data analytics.

The main goal of the 2019 Demand Planning intern is to perform actionable analysis on actual historical data to drive future forecasting improvements. The intern will become familiar with the methodology of S&OP and interdepartmental communication as well as ways to leverage large datasets to uncover underlying data trends. The optimal outcome of the intern projects will be a dynamic tool to determine the relationship among shipment trends, consumption trends, promotional activity, inventory, and service levels.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Identify drivers of forecast accuracy during promotional periods by comparing consumption data and shipment data for key retailers to reveal key business insight to be used for future forecast validation.


* Determine forecast ability by SKU using several factors such as our statistical forecast tool, ForecastX, demand volatility, consumption and market trends to be leveraged as a factor in regular exception management.


* Evaluate the effectiveness of Safety Stock and ideal inventory levels based on demand volatility. Use testing data sets to determine effectiveness of model on actual historical data.


* Perform "what if" scenario analysis as well as predictive modeling to determine the most effective forecast change drivers that yield the best forecast accuracy.


* Intern Group Project


* Pursuing a degree in a field related to Demand Planning, including (but not limited to):


* Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management


* Enrolled in an accredited bachelors program


* Has completed their sophomore or junior year


* Moderate to advanced knowledge of Excel (PivotTables, formulas, lookup functions, keyboard shortcuts)


* Familiarity with the basics of databases


* Familiarity with statistical methods
