Job Description

The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Staff Internal Auditor. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Audit, this position is responsible for planning and execution of financial audit work. This position also assists in the identification and execution of value-adding projects.

Key responsibilities:

* Execute financial, control, and compliance audits, and other non-routine reviews, audits or investigations
* Execute value-adding consulting projects for corporate and operating unit management
* Assist in identifying and developing value-adding projects within the company
* Assist external auditors in completing scheduled audit activities
* Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls
* Prepare audit workpapers and draft control observations
* Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

* BS/BA in accounting required
* CPA and/or CIA certification or interest in pursuing a certification is required
* Internship or Co-Op experience in audit or accounting is a plus

Skills and Abilities:

* Understand internal control concepts and experience in applying them to document, plan, perform and report on the evaluation business processes, areas and functions
* Understand internal auditing standards, COSO, risk assessment practices, technical aspects of accounting and financial reporting
* Strong analytical, interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
* Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
* Ability to work independently; self-motivator
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team on multiple projects
* Domestic travel between 15-20%
