POLICE OFFICER EXAMINATION 
CITY OF CHARDON 
 The Chardon Civil Service Commission announces an examination to establish an  eligibility list for the position of full-time Police Officer. 
Applications will be available at the City of Chardon Police Department, 111 Water Street,  Chardon and are also available via the City of Chardon website:  
www.chardon.cc/employment 
Applications must be turned in person Tuesday, April 9th through Wednesday, May 8th 2024 between the hours of 9 A.M. and 5 P.M. to the City of Chardon Finance  Department, Chardon Municipal Center 2nd floor, 111 Water Street, Chardon, Ohio 44024.  No applications will be accepted after 5 P.M. on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024. Resumes  will not be accepted in lieu of the formal application form. Only the first fifty (50)  applications filed will be accepted.  
Applicants must be 21 years of age, and either Ohio Peace Officer Training Council  certified, or currently attending an O.P.O.T.A. certified academy at time of application.  Applicants are required to submit a copy of their O.P.O.T.A. certificate or letter from their  Academy Commander verifying current enrollment in an O.P.O.T.A. approved academy at  time of application. Veterans of the United States Armed Forces must submit record of  military service at time of application. Tie scores are decided by veteran status and time  the application is filed with the City – first to file receives priority. 
Candidates must possess a certificate of completion of the Tri-C Physical Agility Test dated no earlier than May 15, 2023. Tri-C will be conducting an agility test on Sunday,  April 21st. Candidates should register for the agility test directly with Tri-C. Additional  information regarding the agility test is available at: www.tri-c.edu/workforce/public-safety/

Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license with no more than four (4) BMV points  assessed, and meet qualifications for eligibility for participation in the Ohio Police & Fire  Retirement System. Applicants must be of exemplary character and be able to demonstrate  traits that are consistent with the mission and values of the Chardon Police Department. 
No fee required. 
The Civil Service entrance examination will be given on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 9:00  A.M. Location of examination will be announced when application is filed. 
Salary Range: $68,474-$83,242
