Job Description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources & Employee Development, the Human Resources Assistant is responsible for performing and/or assisting in Human Resources activities including payroll, hiring, benefits, policies and procedures, training, etc. as directed.

Essential Job Functions

  • Accurately completes bi-weekly payroll using ADP Workforce Now
  • Ensures payroll taxes, garnishments, and other withholdings are accurate
  • Maintains payroll reports and files including downloads from ADP Workforce Now
  • Generates 403b reports and submits and ensures accuracy of 403b contributions each pay
  • Generates reports for TASC - FSA and submits and ensures accuracy of TASC - FSA reimbursements each pay
  • Conducts benefit enrollment for new hires in a timely and accurate manner, utilizing ADP modules if appropriate
  • Assists in communicating and implementing annual benefits enrollment
  • Maintains all personnel systems and files in order to quickly and accurately report statistics
  • Ensures accuracy of employee's benefits and time-off through ADP Workforce Now
  • Researches, recommends and implements all modules of ADP Workforce Now to help TCM utilize ADP in its entirety for efficiency and currency as directed by the Director
  • Completes and analyzes ACA tracking and reporting through ADP Workforce Now
  • Completes surveys, censuses, employment verifications, and other requests per TCM policy and in compliance with Federal, State, and local laws as directed
  • Posts positions and manages applicants for open positions as needed. Working with the Director - Human Resources & Employee Development and department managers, assists in screening applicants according to The City Mission's hiring policies
  • Onboards hired employees, accurately completing all paperwork, entering in ADP, ensuring all laws and policies are followed
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism
  • Continuously audits personnel files to ensure compliance
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources & Employee Development or CFO

Professional Qualifications

  • Experience in payroll processing required
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in related field
  • 3-5 years of general human resources experience preferred
  • Experienced with ADP Workforce Now preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Mobile technology and social media aptitude

  • Patterns life after the example of Jesus and the commands and principles found in the Bible

Essential Physical and Mental Functions

  • Remains in a stationary position 70% of the time
  • Constantly operates a computer
  • Stand or walk for up to 30% of the time on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
  • Climb stairs occasionally
  • Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties
  • Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers; includes hand/eye coordination
  • Read, understand and clearly speak English; constantly use speech and hearing (correctable to normal level required) in communicating with public/co-workers, giving and receiving instructions, using phones
  • Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required while setting priorities and following up on assignments
  • Must possess exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner; must be able to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines
  • Must be able to communicate professionally via computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook
  • Must be able to handle pressure of interruptions in daily activities
