Bus Monitor

Reports To: After-School Program Director
Position Purpose: Provide supervision for students traveling on the school bus.
Essential Duties
• Arrive to the school bus boarding area promptly at 3:10 p.m. and work with teachers and PM program staff to ensure correct students board the bus and exit at the appropriate stops.
• Provide supervision to students riding the bus in accordance with Brandeis school rules, re-seating students as necessary and reporting inappropriate behavior to After-School Program Director, as appropriate
• Implement and enforce Brandeis policies and rules
Qualifications
• Job available to candidates seeking bus monitor duties, only.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a current TB test.
• Must take and clear a fingerprint test and background check.
• Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with others.
• Flexible about working with elementary and/or middle school children.
• Must be responsible, calm, and assertive while supervising children ages 5 to 14 years old, setting strong boundaries regarding their safety, well-being, and interactions with other students.
• Must have demonstrated abilities to supervise and guide multilevel-aged students.
• Must have a ready smile and enjoy working with school-aged children.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
• Regularly sit, stand, talk, and hear.
• Regularly use close and distance vision.
• Turn, bend, and reach as needed.
• Must be able to work in an outdoor San Francisco environment (often foggy and cold).
