Job Description

--> Work with teams designing new and modified avionics functionality on the C-17 airlifter to provide improved aircraft capabilities and automation. Investigate and resolve issues that require consideration of system-wide integration of flight software and controls, onboard electronics and sensors, hydro-electro-mechanical actuators, and jet engines.

Tasks involve synthesis of theoretical models of operations and measured aircraft data; and usage of a multitude of software tools, including self-developed programs and scripts as needed.

Job will broaden knowledge of aviation, including navigation, localization, aerodynamics, and flight controls, and will build expertise in aircraft technologies that are industry standard and C-17 specific.

Qualifications

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Successful candidate will work in a technically challenging environment, working towards leading technical efforts.

Must be comfortable working alone or in groups, able to work with little guidance and ask questions from team members as required.

Candidate must be able to participate in technical discussions, rapidly assimilating facts to support selection of best possible solutions.

Successful candidate will possess math skills sufficient to Integrate and Differentiate; have a command of Vector Analysis; and have an understanding of Coordinate Systems and Transformations.

Candidate will also be comfortable programming in at least one language.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
