Job Description

This is an entry level position in real-time software engineering on the C-17 Military Airlifter Program in Long Beach, California. Working under the mentorship of lead engineers the selected candidate will quickly integrate into our Agile/Scrum Flight Software teams and collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines in the development, test and support of the C-17 Avionics and Flight Controls System
The candidate will participate in projects aimed at implementation of solutions utilizing agile methods and processes. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with our military customers and their Boeing representatives to obtain feedback for product enhancements and corrective actions.

Tasks may include:
1) Development of real-time embedded software solutions.

2) Team Membership on development projects for hardware and software designs based on platform requirements.

3) Execution of systems and software testing to verify operational and functional requirements.

4) Management of hardware/software suppliers' performance to ensure customer requirements are met.

5) Supporting resolution of product integration & aircraft field issues.

6) Researching new technologies for potential application to C-17.

Qualifications -
Typical for a Level 1 - Bachelor or Master of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Level 2

Typical Education / Experience:
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

An ideal successful candidate will possess technical and engineering skills developed while attaining a BS or MS degree. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work in a team environment within a complex organization is a must. The selected candidate will be tasked to develop solutions to technical problems of limited scope and impact; and to apply solid engineering, scientific, and common sense principles in the context of organizational dynamics and real world cost & schedule targets.

The selected candidate will integrate into our Agile Development teams, where personal attributes that include ownership, responsibility, and commitment are a must. The candidate will be expected to interact professionally with customers, suppliers, field representatives, and fellow engineers. The candidate must be dependable, innovative, an independent thinker, and possess excellent & creative problem solving skills. The candidate should have demonstrated "hands on" capabilities in class projects and/or previous work experience or hobbies. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate, through past experience, his or her capability to work independently, persevere, and generally "find a way" when roadblocks are encountered. Team Leadership experience is desirable.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required
