THIS POSITION REQUIRES ELIGIBILITY FOR A TS/SCI WITH POLY CLEARANCE

Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer (FPGA Firmware Developer). Join this research-based contract and enjoy the benefits of working with a proven high-caliber team. The team applies skills in hardware/software/system architecture for cutting edge high-speed/high-throughput data aggregation in a complex computing environment. The position involves the design and implementation of a framework used to implement real-time data routing and data processing between multiple embedded devices. Work will include prototyping of new hardware capabilities. This group offers upward mobility with the ability to strengthen technological capabilities.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

* Designs and tests new integrated circuits and hardware components for a wide variety of signal processing applications and research
* Designs, documents, and develops code (to include firmware) for digital signal processors or other programmable hardware devices
* Analyzes the function of existing integrated circuits and hardware components for identification of processing limits
* Conducts the necessary hardware engineering and related functions to modify and adopt vendor-manufactured hardware to meet special needs and contingencies
* Conducts limited research into materials necessary for at distance non-fiber communications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

* FPGA development and verification using VHDL and/or Verilog
* Experience in all stages of development including documentation, modeling, implementation, simulation, synthesis, integration and test/verification
* Development experience with large, dense, high-speed FPGAs (Xilinx, Altera, etc.)
* Experience using GIT code repositories
* Solid experience with FPGA build, simulation, prototyping, and debugging tools and techniques (e.g., Xilinx ISE/Vivado, Mentor Graphics Modelsim, Chipscope/ILA)
* Knowledge of computing equipment and its operating systems (e.g., Windows, Unix, Linux)
* Knowledge of lab bench-top equipment
* Strong background in design and implementation of physical interfaces and signal processing algorithms
* Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills, strong collaborative skills, strong written and verbal communication

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of working experience; OR
* Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with experience

DESIRED EXPERIENCE (although NOT required):

* C/C++ experience, including programming and debugging
* Python experience
* TCL experience
* MATLAB experience
* Digital Signal Processing experience
* Experience designing for high-speed protocols (10GbE, PCIe, AXI)
* Familiarity with code repositories such as GIT and Subversion (SVN)
* Familiarity with the Agile (SCRUM) development methodology using continuous integration and delivery and Atlassian products
