Job Description

-->Candidate will work on an International Space Station (ISS) Lab Operations team to design and develop test rack assemblies, cables, and ground support equipment that supports avionics hardware and software integration in the Software Design Integration Lab (SDIL). Candidate will perform detailed lab hardware design tasks related to C&DH architecture. Candidate will work closely with senior engineers to generate system architecture, requirements, hardware design and interface specifications required to build lab or simulate flight equipment that supports ISS avionics ground support testing and mission operations. Work as a member of the ISS Lab Operations engineering team responsible for developing system design and engineering solutions for electrical systems/interfaces that simulate ISS flight systems required to support flight software integration and verification. Supports lab equipment debug and troubleshooting as well as test equipment verification/validation to ensure lab certification requirements and lab readiness criteria are met.

Work as a member of the ISS Lab Operations team with focus on Ground Support Equipment development and sustaining engineering. Under the direction of a senior engineer accomplishes the following:
- Assists with the development and documentation of electronic and electrical system requirements for test support equipment and system integration lab components
- Designs test racks, rack components and wire harnesses using CAD tools
- Develops or modifies basic hardware and software designs based on defined requirements
- Assists in monitoring suppliers' performance to ensure compliance with requirements
- Supports resolution of product integration issues and production anomalies
- Researches basic technologies for potential application to company business needs
- Supports the verification and validation of requirements and design by assisting with traceability and test analysis
- Provides technical, design and informational support for basic production, product support or in-service issues.
- Assists in writing test plans, conducting testing, performing analysis, documenting and reporting results to validate and verify the design.
- Assists with the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.
Support lab engineering lifecycle processes including: Drawing/Documentation release, Design Reviews, Concurrent Engineering (CE) processes, project reviews, and SDIL Operations Procedures (SOPs). Candidate will also work closely with other lab ops teams and users to ensure lab architecture and configuration changes support end user test needs. Candidate should be proficient in technical writing and be an effective communicator.

Qualifications

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.

This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.

Typical Education/Experience include a Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Required Skills/Experience:
Familiarity and/or experience with the following is desirable:
1) Hardware design of microprocessor based embedded systems, analog to digital and digital to analog conversion is desirable
2) Hardware design of instrumentation amplifiers, analog filter design, and analog sensor interface design
3) Familiar with hardware design and protocols of serial interfaces (such as MIL-STD-1553, RS-232, RS-422, and/or RS-485)
4) Familiar with Ethernet networks, architecture, and commonly used protocols (IP, TCP, UDP, etc.), as well as familiarity with both wired, IEEE 802.3, and wireless, IEEE 802.11 standards and protocols.
5) Familiar with basic software design, development, integration, and verification principles

Desired Skills/Experience:
Experience working in a Lab Environment and testing integrated HW/SW systems.
