Job Description

Several exciting opportunities are available for engineers to design and deliver state of the art airplane interiors. Work with airline customers and suppliers to configure, design, test, and certify new interiors for the Interiors Responsibility Center (IRC). Develop imaginative and thorough design solutions to a wide range of challenges to meet and exceed customer expectations. Perform, interpret, and assist in approving testing of interior design commodities. Help support installation of designs into the airplane. Help support investigations of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs. Knowledge of aircraft interiors, commercial aircraft certification is helpful. Works under general supervision.

General knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).

General knowledge of responsibilities and tasks performed by various Engineering departments/disciplines (e.g., design, test, software, technology, avionics). General knowledge of the interaction between departments/ disciplines and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-engineering processes (e.g., Operations, Logistics, Business).

Typical Education/Experience
Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 2 or more years' experience or a Master's degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
