Job Description

Under the direction of more experienced Aircraft Assembly Mechanics and Manufacturing Engineers, work in assigned manufacturing production department to learn and perform a variety structural assembly operations, fastener installation, and inspection duties. Work from electronic models, manufacturing specifications and procedures, quality procedures and instructions, operations and work sheets and company and customer specifications and procedures. Drill, edge fill, fit and assemble a variety of detail parts, skins and assemblies. Inspect for proper installations and integrity. Approve and stamp acceptable assemblies and reject assemblies not meeting requirements. Perform Production Accountability duties associated with the processing, verification, quality auditing and inspection of assemblies, parts and tooling for which the individual has been delegated production accountability. Maintain necessary documentation and records. Refer any unusual problems to supervision. Keep work areas clean and orderly. May be required to perform other related duties as required. The successful candidate will typically have a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidate must be physically capable of working in a factory production environment. This includes lifting, walking, bending, kneeling, stair climbing, and operating hand and powered tools.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 4 years large structural component assembly experience and/or 4 years large structural component maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). Prefer commercial and/or composite aerospace assembly experience. Prefer industrial drilling experience. Prefer experience reading and following engineering specifications and drawings.

General knowledge of assembly and production processes, manufacturing capabilities (e.g., composites, structures), and data needed for defining delivery configurations (e.g., design definition, program directives, engineering drawings, change memos, wiring diagrams and schematics, functional tests, supplier data). Ability to differentiate production (manufacturing) processes and requirements from in-service procedures and requirements.

General knowledge of standard tools (e.g., pliers, wrenches).
[ + ] Certification & Qualification
General knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements. General ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance.
[ + ] General Shop Processes
General knowledge of basic shop processes to include Foreign Object Damage/Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
[ + ] Quality Systems Process
General knowledge of Quality System processes, quality documentation and paper flow.
Typical Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED and typically 1 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Job related information
Successful candidates will be hired into the Boeing Charleston campus at 3455 Airframe Drive, North Charleston, SC. Successful candidates may work in aft body assembly, mid body assembly or final assembly. Selected candidates will be eligible for employee benefits per the Boeing Charleston benefit plan.
