Job Description

Duties include:

  • Perform a variety of assignments related to the accuracy of position and velocity determination, and trajectory analysis.
  • Perform orbit determination for a variety of satellite missions using real and simulated data.
  • Design and evaluate algorithms and physical models.
  • Develop and perform experiments to evaluate and improve orbit determination performance.
  • Process mission data and perform mission analyses.
  • Typical assignments include performance analyses of satellite navigation systems and their users.
  • Perform analyses and studies for next generation Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) designs and architectures.
  • Conduct research to advance position, navigation, and timing technologies for national security space and civil/commercial space communities.
  • Conduct research toward the design and development of orbit management systems.
  • Duties also include participation in technical interchange meetings and design reviews, and critiquing contractor designs and analyses.
The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office and support all national security space programs. Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • BS degree in an Engineering, Physics, or Mathematical Science Curriculum is required.
  • Two (2) years of technical experience required.
  • Experience in astrodynamics, orbit mechanics, statistics, and estimation theory.
  • Programming skills in both scripted (Perl or Python) and compiled (C, C++, Fortran, or JAVA ) languages is desired.
  • Experience with UNIX, PC, and Linux computer systems.
  • Competence in oral and written communication is necessary.
  • Interpersonal skills and attitudes to work in a cooperative technical environment are essential.
  • The ability to work independently is also required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD clearance.

PREFERRED:

  • Current SCI is desired.
    • Advanced degree in an Engineering, Physics, or Mathematical Science Curriculum is preferred.
