Job Description

The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office and support all national security space programs. We also apply more than 50 years of experience with space systems to projects for civil agencies like NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, commercial companies, universities, and international organizations in the national interest.

In this role as an embedded software engineer you will support government-sponsored R&D efforts, including adaptation and extension of commercial technology to novel applications running on embedded platforms such as Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) and miniaturized satellites.


  • Develop real-time applications on Xilinx's Zynq ARM processor and/or other microcontrollers
  • Research cutting edge embedded processing platforms to enhance product features, reliability, and performance.
  • Design and implement various real-time algorithms with applications to GPS / GNSS receivers and/or communication transceivers on multi-processor platforms consisted of microprocessors, FPGAs and software defined radios (SDRs).
  • Document work products in briefings and/or technical reports to customers and colleagues.
  • Candidate will work on a diverse set of projects. It is very important to be hands on, willing to learn and be comfortable in working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds and expertise

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Graduate degree related to embedded software design and/or digital communication system is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience as embedded systems engineer with demonstrated success in designing, developing and debugging complex real-time application and microprocessor systems.
  • Solid programming skills (proficient in C/C++ with GCC, familiar with Python or MATLAB)
  • Working experience with embedded Linux(e.g., boot loader, file system customization, device drivers, kernel hacking) and multi-thread application development experiences is desired
  • Working knowledge with Xilinx products and ARM-based processors is a plus.
  • Familiarity with laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes, power supplies and multimeters is required.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology is preferred
  • Secret Clearance or ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
