The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office and support all national security space programs. This requisition is for a full time position in the Electronics and Power Systems Department. This position requires in-depth knowledge of high voltage power supply systems. The candidate will frequently be called upon to perform circuit board or box-level assessments of contractor's electronic designs providing quick-response and independent assessments of critical technical issues. In addition, the candidate will be required to evaluate contractor proposals. This position requires close and timely coordination and communication of progress of ongoing tasks and technical issues with the ETG management, technical peers, and the program offices. Essential elements of this position will require the applicant to:

  • Develop clear and concise written reports and presentations.
  • Perform circuit design analysis that supports high voltage (20kV - 30+kV) power supply systems
  • Concisely articulate presentation material to management, peers, program offices, and customers.
  • Perform system level analysis and technical assessments based upon analysis coupled with industry experience.

The applicant will be expected to develop and present clear and concise written reports and briefings to management and peers.

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required
  • A related advanced degree is preferred


    • Minimum of eight years of related experience with High Voltage Power Supply design practices and analysis techniques associated with systems sizing, system characterization & evaluation, fault determination, and requirements flow-down.
    • Possess in-depth demonstrated knowledge of industry lessons learned associated with the design, production, and manufacturing (including some knowledge of assembly practices and potting techniques) of high voltage power supplies
    • Demonstrated experience in the effort to develop high voltage power supplies, "cradle to grave" (design, prototyping / engineering model development, manufacturing, test/troubleshooting, integration, application)
    • Demonstrated understanding of basic high voltage power supply design practices and pitfalls
    • General experience with Analog circuit design, analysis and troubleshooting
    • General experience with DC/DC power converters (basic design practices and pitfalls)
    • Understanding of power systems architectures
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Some travel will be required
    • Ability to obtain DOD Secret clearance
    • Familiarity with current computer simulation tools and analytical techniques
    • Familiarity with interfacing spacecraft power systems components, solar arrays, batteries, and distribution hardware
    • Familiarity with power supply interfacing sensor systems
    • Knowledge of aerospace industry contractors and subcontractors is strongly desired.
    • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate the ability to work and interact well with customers, contractors, peers, and management in an effective manner to promote attainment of department / subdivision accountabilities and organizational goals.
  • Ability to obtain an SBI is required.
