The Aerospace Corporation has provided independent technical and scientific research, development, and advisory services to national security space programs since 1960. We operate a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) for the United States Air Force and the National Reconnaissance Office and support all national security space programs. This requisition is for a full time position in the Electronics and Power Systems Department. This position requires in-depth knowledge of spacecraft power processing electronics circuit and unit design. The candidate will frequently be called upon to perform circuit board or box-level assessments of contractor's electronic designs providing quick-response and independent assessments of critical technical issues. In addition, the candidate will be required to evaluate contractor proposals. This position requires close and timely coordination and communication of progress of ongoing tasks and technical issues with the ETG management, technical peers, and the program offices.

Essential elements of this position will require the applicant to:

? Develop clear and concise written reports and presentations.

? Perform circuit design analysis that supports energy generation and energy storage device/system sizing in support of energy balance and system performance assessments.

? Concisely articulate presentation material to management, peers, program offices, and customers.

? System level analysis and technical assessments based upon analysis coupled with industry experience.

The applicant will be expected to develop and present clear and concise written reports and briefings to management and peers.

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required
  • Master of Science degree preferred


  • Minimum of eight years of related experience in the Spacecraft Power field is required for the Engineering Specialist position.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering analog circuit design practices and analysis techniques associated with systems sizing, system characterization & evaluation, fault determination, and requirements flowdown.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Some travel will be required
  • Ability to obtain DOD Secret clearance
  • Familiarity with current computer simulation tools and analytical techniques
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the various types of spacecraft power processing hardware including power converters, array power trackers, battery chargers, shunt design, and power regulators
  • Familiarity with all other interfacing spacecraft power systems components, solar arrays, batteries, and distribution hardware
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry contractors and subcontractors is strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal skills. Must demonstrate the ability to work and interact well with customers, contractors, peers, and management in an effective manner to promote attainment of department / subdivision accountabilities and organizational goals.
  • Ability to obtain an SBI is required.
