Job Description

The Access Group is hiring a Staff Accountant for their growing Berkeley Heights headquarters. As a Staff Accountant, you will be collaborating with Client Services and Shared Services, responsible for the process of billing clients for services rendered and analyzing revenue. Additional responsibilities include working independently to drive the monthly project accounting closing process in order to meet deadlines. You will also handle analyzing costs incurred and time reported for opportunities to bill, reconciling completed and in-progress contracts, analyzing accounts receivable and applying payments, reconciling other balance sheet accounts and other financial analyses.

Required skills:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting
  • At least one year of accounting experience
  • High attention to detail
  • Quick learner
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized and self-driven
  • Above average communication skills, both written and verbally
  • Ability to handle confidential/sensitive corporate, client and employee information appropriately
Preferred skills (would be a plus):
  • Experience billing clients in a time and materials (professional services type firm) is highly desired
  • Familiarity with accounting software programs like MS Dynamics or Solomon experience
  • Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Workamajig (used for timesheet reporting) or similar system
  • Accounts payable experience (A/P)
Essential Duties of the Staff Accountant (include but are not limited to):
  • Prepare invoices for all billable projects, including all applicable backup for client requirements
  • Responsible for collecting, analyzing, posting and managing client payments
  • Effectively communicate with Client Services regarding contract documents, service orders and other contract modifications, approvals, and any additional services-related to billing
  • Maintain billing records for all projects, including expenses, consultant invoices, and monthly invoices
  • Provide accounts payable with guidance specific to costs incurred on open projects
  • Generate and distribute semi-monthly receivables reports and monthly profitability (sales forecast) reports
  • Prepare and post journal entries for various accounts, including operating expenses, accounting accruals, prepaids, department allocations, inter-company transactions, and fixed assets
  • Interact with all levels of the organization to communicate finance related issues
