Job Summary:

We are a seeking an engineering intern to join our team in our Troy, MI. facility. The candidate will perform engineering tasks under the supervision of a Kautex Engineer supporting the development of fuel system and sub-components from design feasibility, drawing support, prototype part assembly, and delivery and testing through to start of production. Job scope includes the ability to communicate program manufacturing and test requirements, organize documents and test report data, and provide prototype, testing, and production support.


* Perform a broad range of engineering duties associated with assigned program(s) as defined in our processes
* Support the creation of engineering models / drawings
* Apply engineering disciplines and analysis including: DFMEA, FEA, GDT &T, DVP&R, and Control Plan in accordance to QS9000 and customer requirements
* Develop and maintain an open liaison relationship with customer engineering
* Provide trial, launch, and post launch support at supplier, Kautex, and OEM manufacturing sites.
* Supports the continuous quality improvement process by continually evaluating products & processes for potential incremental performance enhancements
* Capture Lessons Learned for future programs
* Support prototype manufacturing groups to supply prototype parts / assemblies to the customer's satisfaction
* Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned (i.e. maintaining open issues, lessons learned, and after action review data, design scorecard, prototype fabrication and sample distribution, and test support)
* Complete Engineering Changes via ECMS or ECN

Position Requirements:

* Currently pursuing University Degree in Engineering, preferably Plastics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

* Preference for candidates with the following skills: Electronics, and Systems Engineering

* Knowledge of engineering functions such as: testing and validation, program/project management, quality management, Measurement Technology/Statistical Process Control, Technical Documentation, Materials and Processing, DFMEA and PFMEA process

* Strong communication and presentation skills

* Automotive related experience and working knowledge of Six Sigma a plus

* Professional competencies required: Learning on the Fly, Compassion, Dealing with Ambiguity, Drive for Results, Organization.
