Job Summary:

Located in Wichita, KS, interns will create and prepare documentation about the operation and maintenance of aircraft parts, systems, and assemblies by conducting engineering research to ensure all data conforms to established design specifications and regulatory requirements. Interns will alternatively verify the accuracy of procedures and instructions by conducting on-aircraft validation testing. Interns will then release publications for distribution through interactive desktop and mobile electronic publishing systems.

Job Responsibilities (may include, but not limited to):

* Research Textron Aviation engineering and supplier documentation (drawings, functional tests, parts lists, electrical schematics, etc.)
* Use CATIA, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop software to create and revise a variety of industry leading technical illustrations of aircraft part details, assemblies, and installations, as well as schematics and charts
* Use industry standard tools/software such as Arbortext Editor (SGML/XML), HarnesSys, and Adobe Frame-Maker to develop critical Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA), Flight Documents, and Service Letters/Bulletins in accordance with industry standards and government regulations
* Use software programming (SGML, XML, JAVA, and SQL) to create and modify hardware and software applications used for authoring, illustrating, quality control, data integrity, converting and processing of technical publications


* Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in:
* Aeronautics
* Aviation Technology
* Aerospace engineering
* Engineering Technology
* Computer Science
* Other related fields

Position Requirements:

* Professional and diplomatic demeanor
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Understanding and aptitude of mechanical and/or electrical principles
* Knowledge of aircraft operation, aircraft systems and aircraft maintenance practices
* Ability to use engineering drawings, specifications, functional tests, and other sources to research, analyze and interpret information required for inclusion in publications
