About the job

We are looking for a summer intern to in the field of silicon based optical sensing and metrology. Typical examples of focused areas might be various type of optical detectors such as silicon APDs, SPADs and PiN diodes that will be used in future autonomous navigation, industrial robotics and factory automation application sectors. You will be immersed in the end-to-end design of detector structures, high speed circuit design for signal processing the detector outputs, simulation, layout and optimization of different detector structures and silicon development.

Job Tasks

* Understand, develop and design optical detection front-ends in Silicon
* Develop new circuit designs for mixed-signal path design of optical signals
* Analyze trade-offs between detection models and circuits
* Validate and test optical front-end designs and detectors
* Provide design inputs and design reviews on different options and optimally choose from different architecture styles


* Qualified candidates will be currently pursuing an PhD (preferable) or MS in Electrical Engineering with experience in Si-based optical front-ends and Optoelectronic devices
* Demonstrated interest and knowledge in time-of-flight ranging, pulse processing or imaging

Preferred Expertise

* Experience in mixed signal circuit designs
* Good knowledge of signal path design - gain, bandwidth, noise, SNR & linearity tradeoffs
* Prefer expertise in mixed-signal circuit design with good interfacing work to optical detectors
* Excellent knowledge of Cadence for analog design is a must
* Ability to innovate and find new directions
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* Strong analytical and critical thinking
