General Description


Supplemental Questions

Performs entry-level to routine computer programming work in support of agency software applications. Work involves assisting in analyzing systems to develop programs or fix issues for computer applications; documenting the methods and procedures used in program development; and testing, debugging, and correcting programs. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Codes and debugs programs as outlined by a system's technical and functional requirements. Codes requested changes in accordance with standards, guidelines and design documents. Assists in the development of business requirements and in application analysis, design and programming. Assists in the development of technical design documents. Follows a division standard Software Development Life Cycle for application development. Tests each coding change to verify that the new code executes according to requests. Prepares for code reviews and makes adjustments to code based on review results. Prepares test data and instructions for use. Prepares documentation of computer programs, including diagrams, logic flowcharts, and user documentation, training and help files. Perform all other related duties as assigned including responding to problems in an on-call situation 24 hours a day during a rotation.

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree. Complete copies of college transcripts must be furnished to the divisional hiring representative at the time of the interview for positions requiring a college degree, and/or specific educational credits. Preferred Education:
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Management Information Systems.

Experience: Experience in computer programming Experience in problem analysis, resolution and testing
Preferred Experience: Experience in Powerbuilder development or other object oriented language Experience in Lotus Notes development
One (1) additional year of experience in computer programmer work may substitute for (30) thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).

Work Hours:
Between the hours of 8:00AM to 5:00PM, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. Hours may change based on business need.


Physical Requirement:

The physical demands described here are represented of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (standing and walking) is routinely required to carry out some duties. It requires extensive computer, telephone and client/customer contact. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Marginal or corrected visual and auditory requirements are required for reading printed materials and computer screens and communicating with internal and external customers.

Also, this position requires the incumbent must be able to ride elevator; must be able to carry laptop home for on-call duties, must be able to sit for hours at one time, must be able to work on a pc keying program changes as a repetitive function.
