Security Sensitive Position
Conducts independent research; carries out research problem solving; researches literature in connection to possible procedures and experiments; modifies experiments to suit the particular research needs. Prepares data for analysis and prepares samples. Obtain original research results. Organize and maintain equipment used in the lab. Conducts mouse-based studies. Uses computer for controlling equipment and compiling data; makes and records observations and measurements. Assists in writing and/or edits for publication scientific materials requiring academic knowledge; researches and catalogs reference materials requiring understanding of subject matter theory. Provide scientific and technical input on other projects of the lab. Participate in lab meetings within the center and other departments. Participate in joint projects involving the laboratory team. Help with the training of rotational students and new personnel. Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Appropriate doctoral degree. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and TAMHSC guidelines.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Ph.D. degree in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, cancer biology or related field. Experience in cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, animal study, and/or drug discovery research. Maintenance of mouse colonies and genetic manipulation in mice; mammalian cell culture, immunofluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry.
