Primary Duties:

Job SummaryThe College of Arts and Sciences seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning in Fall 2017. The appointment is for an Assistant Professor of Biology position; specialization sought is Developmental Biology. The College seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.

Required Education and Experience:

A Ph.D. degree in Biology, or a closely related field, from a regionally accredited institution.A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Biology.Evidence of active research and publications.A minimum of one year college or university teaching experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Experience with contemporary instructional technologies such as learning management systems and e-portfolios.Broad training in biology and experience teaching and mentoring undergraduates in biological research.Willingness to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Familiarity with the needs of a non-traditional, first-generation, culturally diverse student body.Familiarity with high-impact educational practices such as cooperative education, service learning, and undergraduate research.

The university was created to address the educational needs in South San Antonio and surrounding areas.
