C /Java Software Engineer I

Job Summary:

Candidate will actively develop software as part of an engineering team building and maintaining state-of-the-art applications using agile development methodology. The candidate will have responsibilities during all phases of the software development life cycle which include: independently analyzing and enhancing existing designs and implementations or generating new designs and implementations for highly available multi-threaded Debugging Tools using theoretical as well as practical knowledge; defining work breakdowns, identifying tasks, and creating project schedules; generating test plans, test cases, and executing tests to validate software using "white box" and "black box" techniques; resolving software issues related to own implementation as well as related implementations; and contributing knowledge of emerging technologies and processes to evaluate and develop technical solutions.

The Parallel Database Tools team is a key part of the Teradata Database Software that runs in a massively parallel environment on the Linux platform.

Major Job Functions:

- Is part of a team in the development and support of the next generation Parallel OS Tools
- Assesses and understands test execution problems and system requirements to create an appropriate system design for the distributed system
- Works side-by-side with other team members to implement and enhance code modules in support of the design, develop supporting drivers, and maintain the overall solution.
- Serves as a peer in technical meetings, regular code reviews, and technical planning meetings.
- Ultimately accountable for the quality of the PDE Debugging Tools design and implementation.
- U.S. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of C/C , Java, Python
- Knowledge of Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems
- Must have familiarity with common design patterns, POJOS and Dependency Injection frameworks such as Spring or Blueprint
- Must be proficient in developing unit tests using test framework such as JUnit and/or TestNG with EasyMock.
- Experience with OSGi and developing plugins for the Eclipse framework
- Familiarity with revision control systems such as ClearCase or Git
- Familiarity with fundamental database concepts and operation
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills

Minimum Requirements:

U.S. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or the foreign equivalent
